I like this thermometer a lot. It is relatively easy to use too. Although I can not seem to set the “age” on it so that you do not have to choose an age each time you use it. (I followed the directions but no luck.) It doesn’t make a big difference in reading anyway but if you have a little baby, I suppose you want to try and be as accurate as possible. Otherwise, it works fine and is super easy to use and read. And the reading is SUPER quick – like instant!Just know that you NEED to use one of the covers included – and then will have to purchase more in the future – as the machine will NOT work without a cover on it. It apparently knows if there is one attached or not – and will tell you so. So that may be the only prohibitive thing to others. A replacement set of 40 is currently available from Braun here on Amazon for about 6 bucks. For me personally, it makes no difference as I am using this ONLY for me so I use the same cover repeatedly. So far it has worked for like dozens of measurements without issue. I will only change mine when I really need to then.PLUS, my first one I ordered was apparently defective. The batteries arrived dead on arrival and not only did I have to put new batteries in but I had to change the batteries or at least remove and put back in EACH time I wanted to use the machine as it would not turn back on otherwise. This only happened with the first one and it was easy enough to return through Amazon by dropping off at Whole Foods. They sent a replacement right out to me too – and this one WORKS. : )The only thing I am unsure about is the base. It is very bulky and doesn’t attach to a wall or anything. It does serve the purpose of keeping the reading tip safe as well as store the entire little box of replacement covers right in the base too. So, I guess that is something.Enjoy your day! : )

First off, I am an adult with a rare genetic disorder that is marked by frequent recurring fevers. As a result, I monitor my temperature on a regular basis multiple times a days. The fact that it takes FIVE button presses to obtain a temp with this device is absolutely freaking ASININE.Seriously, who thought THAT was a good idea?! I can’t imagine trying to get fumble around with this in the dark with a screaming, writhing infant or child of any age to get a new ear prophylactic installed, powered on (1), age setting selected (2-4), maybe trying to use the “flashlight” (5), and THEN push a button to take the reading (6). I’m Honestly thankful I never reproduced (especially knowing this disease is hereditary)…way to make something so simple and straightforward as annoying as possible. It remains to be seen if this thing survives an attempted defenestration when I’m too febrile and agitated or just not lucid to go through the five steps of that when ONE button press is all it EVER needed.Good thing I can find my own ear hole in the dark. Your mileage may vary.
