When the seller indicates that this sensor is the Arabic Edition, you would normally assume that it will work in Egypt out of the box without any problem, right? Unfortunately, that is NOT the case!In order to use the sensor, you either need to buy the reader or use your smartphone with the FreeStyle LibreLink app. But what I did not know is that every edition of a sensor works only with its own edition of the app!!! Meaning, if you buy the American edition of the sensor, it only works with the American version of the app, and if you buy the British version of the sensor, you must use the British version of the app, and if you buy the Arabic edition of the sensor, then you must use the Arabic version of the app!Even though this is a very stupid strategy from the manufacture, Abbott, the worst part is that the Arabic edition of the app is NOT available to download in Egypt!!! The Arabic edition of the app is ONLY available download in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Jordan and Lebanon! Apparently, Abbott does not consider Egypt as an Arabic country!Since I have an American account in Google Play, I downloaded the FreeStyle LibreLink app before I purchased the sensor. After receiving and applying the sensor, the app did not work with the sensor and gave me error that I am using a wrong region and I need to use the correct region of the sensor!So, I contacted the seller and she told me that I need to install the UAE version of the app! And in order to find the UAE version in Google Play or Apple Appstore, you must have a UAE account! And guess what? You cannot create a UAE account unless you have a UAE phone number or a UAE address! The seller told me to use any a fake UAE address and offered me a fake address! After going through all the hustle of creating a UAE account, the UAE edition of the app still did NOT show up when I search for it in the Play store!I contacted the seller again and she told me that I need first to associate my credit card information with that UAE account then I will be able to find the app. And after installing it, I can remove my credit card information! So, I tried to follow her instructions, but it did not work because the billing address of my credit card is in Egypt and the UAE account requires you to use a billing address in UAE! Meaning your credit card must be issued from UAE! I was stuck for a minute but luckily my second credit card was not tied to a specific billing address, and it worked! Without it I would be out of luck and would not be able to use the sensor.When I contacted the seller, I told her that such critical information is extremely important to be clearly mentioned in the product page before customers buy the sensor and face all these problems, but the seller ignored my comment and did nothing to correct this! Clearly the seller does not want you to know this critical information in advance, because the product can NOT be returned once it’s opened! So once you are stuck with a non-working, non-returnable product, then the seller will offer you a work-around solution which was time consuming and not easy to do.As for the sensor itself, it worked fine “most of the time” and I found it very useful. But for EGP1,880 it’s extremely expensive thus I am giving it 2 only stars. The company should reduce its price to around EGP 500 or less because most customers are not willing to spend EGP1,880 for a sensor that lasts only 14 days! That’s EGP45,120 /year! Crazy!
